ACADEMIC ELIGIBILITY: Remember that we are governed by the PIAA. If you are failing two or more subjects, you are ineligible to participate in rehearsals or performances for the following week (Sunday morning through Saturday night). A preliminary list on eligibility is released Wednesday mornings. I try my best to reach out to everyone impacted. Please be on top of your grades!
HYDRATION: This has been a HUGE issue. Please drink enough fluids during the day to avoid heat related issues during rehearsals and performances. This is critical during the warmer days that we have been experiencing. Drink enough fluids at home, before school and during lunch. If you bring a parent note to the nurse, you may also drink water during the school day. Mr. Payung highly recommends this!
Attendance Policy Reminder
Attendance is mandatory at ALL practices and performances. The only exceptions that will be made are ones submitted in writing in advance to the Band Director.
Acceptable excuses for missing a rehearsal or performance are as follows:
If a student wishes to leave an event such as a competition early, a note must be provided in advance in order for that student to be released.
Marching Shoes
New to Marching Band? Dinkles are required for instrumentalists and special shoes are needed for our color guard. There are some samples available at the High School for you to try for size. Shoes orders should be placed as soon as possible so they arrive before picture day!
Uniform Distribution & Picture Day
Uniforms will be distributed during band camp prior to picture day.
Clearances Reminder
Just a reminder to complete your clearances with the school district. Clearances are needed for all volunteer roles including working in the Snack Bar, being a Roadie, chaperoning trips, etc.
Roadies Needed for Marching Band Season
Volunteers are needed as Roadies for our Marching Band. The Roadie position requires all necessary clearances, a valid driver's license and the ability to lift band equipment and props. Prospective Roadies need to complete all required clearances and fill out the PA Request for Driver Information form (DL-503). Only fill out Sections C & E and provide the completed form with a clean copy of their PA drivers license to Ms. Bitting or Bob Frey.
